We only had a day and a half in Goa, so just decided to stay in South Goa, in Palolem. Although its supposedly their busiest beach in the South, it was quite quiet (guess it must be out of season) and had a really nice vibe. Chennai and Madurai, two cities in the South East, didn't hold that much appeal (and were so hot, it was uncomfortable), so we were glad when we made it to Kerala and the beach at Varkala. Varanasi is a sacred Hindu city, where people bathe, do their washing, cremate their deceased loved ones (and do everything else humanly possible) in the Ganges river. From Udaipur, we travelled onto Pushkar. Its another town based around a lake, and is really religious. There are ghats round the lake, where people come from all over the country and bathe in the sacred lake. There were people and cows in the lake which was cool to see, but not sure how hygenic it was!!
