Claire's Travels
Hi Everyone!
We have been in KL for the last 4 days so I'll sum up what we have got up to! On the first day we arrived in the evening so we just got settled in our room (really nice too for only 4 quid a night!) and headed out for a bite to eat. We seem to have a huge chinese food market just down our road but we opted for Indian instead - didnt fancy eating weird bits of chicken (if they are in fact chicken) again.
The next day we headed into the main business area to check out our surroundings - like Singapore there seems to be mall upon mall. They do seem to be our haven from the humidity. (Its currently 80%).
We took a trip to an elephant sanctuary which was amazing! There were two baby elephants which still had a great tufts of hair sticking out all over the place! We got to feed them which was an experience in itself as they practically suck your arm off as you place the fruit in their mouth. We also got a quick ride on them (not half as good as the one in Thailand Dad and Soph!). Finally, we got the opportunity to bathe with them...well thats what we thought. In fact you sit on the largest elephant and he walks into the water and then falls to one side, completely submerging you under the water. Didnt really fancy that in the end. We did get to splash around with the babies though. Really good day out!
On our final day we got up fairly early as we wanted to head to the Batu Caves which are on the outskirts of the city. We ended up waiting for an hour in the blistering heat before giving up and heading back into town. It was a shame because they look amazing from the outside.
For our final night we headed to the KL Tower for dinner. The restaurant sits at for 200m high and revolves so you get a great view of the whole city. I dont know if anyone else reading this has been to the restaurant but we found the whole menu a little confusing. Basically you can have a main course but that means you can only help yourself to the western starters and puddings. If you choose the buffet you get to help yourself to everything....actually that doesnt sound very confusing now but it really was at the time! By the way I wouldnt recommend the restaurant - the food reall wasnt that great.
Off to the Cameron Highlands tomorrow. The weather up there is a lot cooler which will be nice!
Hope you are all well! x x
