This morning we left for Cairns, we were going to head here for a few days, get the car checked over and then the 3 of us were going to drive over to Darwin. The drive down is along the Captain Cook Highway, and drives right along the coast.

We found a campsite that was quite near the centre and booked into a nice cabin. We went for a look round Cairns. We weren't sure what to expec from Cairns, we'd heard a lot of different stories about it but our first impressions were good ones, it's a nice sunny city with loads of tourist shops, dive shops and a happy buzz in the air. Everyone seems to be on holiday and in a good mood, there's aparently a good nightlife as well, but that will have to wait for now. The earliest we could get the car in was the 15th so we are definatley going to be here for a while.
