Caught the bus over to Vientiane this morning and thankfully it was only a 3 and half hour journey - not the 7-8 hours that we're now used too! Arrived and settled into an 'ok' guesthouse before going out to have a look round, to say that this is a capital city - it has got to be one of the quietest and laid back cities in the world! It is very French with bakeries and Pattisseries lining the streets - very nice.

After a competition of who could stare in to the fan the longest without blinking (David managed 40 seconds), we walked down to the riverside for some Laos food and then sat in a bar with a French band playing on stage. Again, the city has a midnight curfew so it was another early night!
