Had another day in the sun by the swimming pool. Dave hasn't been so good the past week or so, mainly due to constantly walking into the door frame of the bathroom! He is now though starting to feel better and we are planning on going tubing tomorrow! We had another quiet night watching Gladiator in one of the restaurants.

Woke up to the lazy and sleepy town of Vang Vien and it didn't take long to find a nice bar playing Family Guy serving nice fruit shakes. After some lunch, the heat was getting a bit much again. We were debating between tubing down the river or lying in the sun and in the end we opted to pay a small fee to use one of the posh hotels swimming pools for the afternoon. We'll do tubing another day as we'd forgotten how nice it was to have a swimming pool for the day...

Woke up to a heavy thunderstorm and grabbed some brekkie before catching the 5 hour bus to Vang Vien. It was actually a 7 hour journey through the mountains passing hill tribe villages and loads of kids playing and waving. Rather than stop at the conveniantly located central bus station where he was supposed to stop, the driver kindly drove us out of the centre to a guesthouse where we asume he got commision! So now with our backpacks on and the heat baring dow...

This morning was shared a taxi to Kuang Si waterfall, one of the more famous sites around Luang Prabang. It is a many tiered waterfall tumbling into bright blue pools - which are pretty cold as Dave found out! Claire just had a little paddle playing with the fish swimming by her feet. We then took a trail up the side to the second tier, but it started to rain and the limestone path was getting neck breakingly slippy. We also attempted to walk right to the top...

Had a lie in and then a wander round the town, stopping for the biggest sandwich in the world for lunch. We then chilled out for the rest of the day before meeting up with one of the couples from last night.
