Another early morning so we could go round the temples of Angkor before it got to busy and hot. Our first stop was the Angkor Wat - Cambodia's most famous landmark! Its the largest religious building in the world, built for king about 800 years ago. Considering it's age it's still in very good condition and was quite an impressive sight! There were some parts that you couldn't enter as steps had completley worn away. It was really large and we didn't realise that we'd spent nearly 2 hours there when we left to go to the next temple.
Bayun was our next stop, this one was about 1200 years old and has huge faces carved into all the stones and walls and pilars. We went round a few more that were all similar and different in their own way. The other main one of note was the one they used in the film Tomb Raider, Ta Prohm, which was strange as Trees had started to take over it, intertwining themselves with the walls and somehow balancing on the actual temple in someplaces.
As it was getting rediculously hot we decided to leave, especially Claire who had just cracked her head on a concrete slab whilst going up a step, and then when she tried to make herself feel better with an ice cream - the top of it fell off leaving her with just the cone.
Had a lazy afternoon which involved a well deserved sleep before going out for tea with Briege and Layne. Looking forward to doing nothing tomorrow!
