For our only full day in Noosa we decided to skip going to the beach, because it wasn't that warm or sunny and we've spent enough time on the beach already, and instead walked along the coastal track from our hostel at Sunshine Beach all the way into the main town centre - 2.5 to 3 hours of walking. We started off by walking down Duke Street to get some breakfast, it was full of nice cafes and we got a cheap delicious breakfast there - all going great, until some customers asked the owner to extend the roof, at which point all of last nights rain poured down right next to us almost soaking my bag! We didn't even get a discount on our meal! Next up we headed out to the beach, which had some very good looking surf, and walked north along Sunshine Beach until we got to the headland. We then had to walk/scramble up the hill and down the other side to get to Alexandria Bay, which looked really nice but we had been warned is a nudist beach frequented by old men - we did spot one lurking behind the sand dunes, yuk! At the end of this beach we had to walk up onto the headland again, but this section was much easier and better maintained, so we had a fairly easy walk along to Hells Gates, which had great views south over the bay and north up to Double Island Point and the main town. After soaking up the views we carried on walking towards town and Main Beach - we passed some really nice looking coves, and the scenery reminded us a bit of the cliffs at home, only not quite as rugged. The path got easier and easier as we got closer to town which was nice too! Once we'd made it into town we had a quick walk along the main street to look at the shops, but they were all much too expensive for us so we then headed down to Noosa Junction to do some food shopping. We also found a branch of our Australian Bank, so Joel went in to close his account down before we leave - I need to wait until we get to Cairns to make sure all of our trips are paid for - time is going really quickly now, only 2 and a half weeks left in Oz!
