Day 1: Sunday, May 17, 2015 - Picked up folks at their home in Highland, MI at 8:30am. We drove our Astro Van and brought Steve & Kerry a carpet cleaner to borrow. Arrived in Romulus at Steve's house about 9:30am, he shuttled us 4 to the airport by 10am. Flew from Detroit Metro to Myrtle Beach Intnl. Airport and got squared up at Alamo Rental for a 2015 Dodge Charger. Checked in at Bluegreen Shorecrest Vacation Villas II, got unpacked, and had a fancy dinner at Chesapeake Seafood, Roger's treat.
Day 2: Monday, May 18, 2015 - was our beach and pool day, we all sat out long enough that we all got a good sunburn that didn't kick in until the next day. Dinner was at Margarita's in celebration of Cheryl's birthday of an unknown number and back to Shorecrest.
Day 3: Tuesday, May 19, 2015 - was lay-low day for we all had discovered the disadvantages of bringing Northern winter pale skin to real Southern sun. We opted for a mini road trip to North Carolina to look at the beautiful million dollar beach homes. We stopped for lunch at Ocean Isle restaurant named Fish House for a great view and food. Later that evening, Roger and Chuck attended the Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball game while Cheryl and Lyn opted for an in house movie "The Heat" and popcorn.
Day 4: Wed. May 20, 2015 - was check-out day in North Myrtle Beach, and over to Harbor Lights on the banks of the Intercoastal Waterway, Myrtle Beach. Before check-in, we spent time at the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk for a beverage and a spin on the Skywheel while takikng in the sights of the tourist strip. Dinner this evening was at the Carolina Roadhouse, steaks and such that couldn't be beat. We shuffled in right before a downpour, perfect timing. Later that evening we relaxed out by the pool & hot tub.
Day 5, Thurs. May 21, 2015 - was a day trip to Huntington State Park for a picnic lunch and a look at the wildlife and public beach. We had leftovers for dinner and Lyn went to bed extra early in preparation for our busy day tomorrow.
Day 6, Friday, May 22, 2015 - Last day in Myrtle Beach. The day started with a breakfast at the National Pancake house before heading to Brookgreen Gardens. a rehabbed trio of former rice plantations housing florals and sculpture exhibits, a zoo, and a river boat tour detailing the history of the region. Then back to the airport at 4pm. Our exit from town coincided with the arrival of Black Bike Week in Myrtle Beach. Steve picked us up at the airport, we drove the folks back home and slept in our own beds Friday night. No place like home.
