Tuesday 23rd of August - Golf with the Golden Greek!
After checking out of our hotel we headed off to a place called the Aphrodite Hills Country Club for a game of golf. Whilst Chris and I played golf, Mary and Nadeen went out for lunch, had a swim and
checked out the local area.
Aphrodite Hills golf club has to be seen to be believed! Who would have imagined such a golf course being here in Cyprus. The course has the most amazing views, surrounded by residential properties - all large properties with swimming pools, spread out over a vast area. I have played quite a few golf courses over the years, but have never seen such a golf course as this - again the photos will have to do justice to the area.
Chris proudly showed off the course to me and we were joined in our game of golf with a cousin of Chris's - Mama - and a Scotsman called Jimmy. Poor old Jimmy must have wondered what struck him when we turned up for our game of golf. We were running a bit late, he was there on his own, then we took over......as it turned out, Jimmy had a great day, as we all did.
After golf, we sat around and had a few beers, sharing stories. Jimmy has now invited Nadeen and I to stay with him in Glasgow if we decide to visit Scotland......what a small world!
Following golf - did I mention that I happened to beat the Golden Greek? - we travelled to Lemesos to enjoy dinner.
Lemesos, is the second biggest city in Cyprus with a population of about 200,000 people and is located on the south coast of Cyprus. It is a combination of a Geelong/St Kilda area - the city hugs the coast line and is home to visiting boats and tourists. We enjoyed a fish meze for dinner sitting at the local acquatic club, enjoying views of the water - very relaxing and hard to take.
As usual, the food and company was great and following dinner we returned to Nicosia.
