We decided to give Disneyland a miss and instead catch the Hop On Hop Off Bus around Santa Monica, Beverly Hills Hollywood and downtown LA
The bus picked us up at 11.30 and we headed to Beverly Hills - the highlight being a trip down Rodeo Drive. From there it was onto Hollywood where we saw the main streets including Hollywood Boulevard where the streets are lined with the stars of Hollywood as well as the entertainment industry - commonly known as the Walk of Fame. We also saw such icons as the Dolby Theatre -home of the Oscars.
Downtown LA took in areas such as Chinatown, Korean town, the Jewellery District and the Fashion District. Other highlights included the Staple Centre. - home of the LA lakers as well as the place where they held the memorial service for Michael Jackson.
Hollywood Boulevard is crazy- people dressed up as all sorts of film characters - everyone wants to be someone in this town!!!!
They are all quiet reserved types also...
For lunch I had a "piece" of pizza - which back home would have equalled a small pizza - everything is BIG over here....
Had enough of the tourist thing now so heading back along Sunset Boulevard towards Santa Monica - what a nice contrast Santa Monica has turned out to be!!!
For dinner we went to a local steak restaurant called BOA's - very pricey however the food was well worth it. A glass of wine was $20 and everything you ordered was"extra" we tried a selection of their sauces, had the biggest backed potatoe with sour cream, cheese, bacon and spring onion as well as a Caesar salad!!! Needless to say we rolled out of there and had to go for a long walk back to our hotel!!
A nice way to finish our last night here in Santa Monica - a place I would highly recommend if you are coming over this part of the world.
The temperature is great, plenty of sunshine, friendly relaxed people, lots of shops and restaurants.
Look out Vegas here we come!!!!
