I woke up and changed living quarters again, and then walked around Bahnhofstrasse, one of the world's most expensive shopping streets. The usual suspects (Louis Vuitton, Tiffany's etc.) were present, but they were joined by more watch stores than I have ever seen in my life! It's amazing that these places are still so popular given the rise of wearable technology.
Next I went for a walk along Lake Zurich and watched a bit of the rowing competition before heading to Seebad Enge/Sauna am See, a popular badi (outdoor swimming pool). In the summer Seebad Enge is a very popular place to visit. The lake swimming area is combined with views of the snow-capped Alps. In the winter this closes and Sauna am See opens up, offering a hot sauna, massage and energy balancing, and a dip in a freezing cold lake pool (yes people were doing it). It was foggy and raining so it wasn't a great day to see the Alps, but it was an interesting place to visit. People were sitting on lounge chairs in the sauna like they were relaxing on a beach. No talking or cellphones/technology were allowed so it was very quiet and relaxing. I didn't jump into the lake - I've had my share of cold water on this trip.
In the afternoon and evening I went to Expovino, and annual wine tasting festival that takes place on 12 boats that are joined together. It was the only reasonable priced thing I've seen in Switzerland. For 25 CHF you got access and unlimited wine samples from hundreds of vendors. I tried wine from everywhere in the world. I ended up meeting a few Brits - one of them just moved here and the others were visiting, and we walked around and tried wine together, and then ate fondue. It was so much fun. I think I've had my fill of wine and cheese on this trip!
