Today was a travel day. I took a train from Munich to Lucerne. It was foggy so I couldn't see the mountains as I came in. It has been pouring rain in Lucerne for the past couple of days but it looks like the weather has cleared up a bit in time for my arrival.
I arrived to a cloud of smoke - people can smoke inside of the train station. I later learned that they can also smoke inside of bars, if they are small and the establishment would like to make it a smoking bar. This was very strange to me since it's been so long since smoking was allowed inside in Canada.
Lucerne is a great little city. It seems very laid back. Like many of the German cities I visited, it is extremely bike and pedestrian friendly. They don't have marked cross-walks in most places, but cars stop immediately if they see you waiting and people seemed so patient.
My air bnb wasn't ready when I arrived, so I picked a bar and sat down to have a glass of wine. Within 5 minutes I learned that the bar was in a hotel our company uses, and all of the people beside me were visiting for training. I talked with them for a while and we exchanged numbers, and I went to check in to my lodging. I later met up with them and a number of other international colleagues for an evening out, which was a ton of fun!
