You know when you dont trust a computer as far as you could throw it.. (like most others of a particular species I wont mention - OOO bitter!), well thats how I feel about this computer. Its going to crash the minute I set it to processing this blog, so for that reason its not going to be a long one. Which is a shame. I am very much enjoying reading Bill Brysons 'Notes from a Small Island' and he can burble on with the best of them, I wish I was in a position to blog my every footfall and scone like he does (ok tram ride and BBQ). I usually laugh particularly at the bits when he hurts himself, a cruel habit but things like careering down a hill in disgusting weather, being locked out of your chintzy hotel room, being attacked by hounds (ok dogs), we can all relate to that. I got attacked by a kookabura the other day. Yes I did, Nico will back me up. Id said that very morning, well ive seen emus, kangaroos, rock wallabies, crocs, wombats, koalas, fruit bats, dingos, but not a kookabura. Anyway Ive seen one now, the THIEF stole a delicious piece of battered calamari from my hand while I was mid-yabber. Beat its wings in my face and everything, gave me quite a fright, and a bit of a bite! (Aha, a poet!). Now that I come to think about it I remember some kind of story about them having a black 'mask' because theyre likened to robbers.
This blog is coming to you from Melbourne, this is my second visit this year and I love it just as much as the first time. If I have to poll my top potential work locations it would go something like this London, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Somewhere in Japan, Somewhere obscure in Australia, probably in that order. Its funny though, i had lunch with my friend James from the China trip and hes in Melbourne looking London-wards, Ill be the opposite. The end of the trip is looming though. Im excited to see everybody and Ive missed home loads but Im nervous about how ill take back to work 9like a lead baloon I suspect) and the yukky weather. Im glad Ive got South Africa as a culture point between now and then (sorry Australia!). Actually, thats not fair, ive done plenty of cultural stuff in Australia, recently heard the Australian Symphony Orchestra play in Brisbane and it was great. Think thats what I like about Melbourne so much is theres so much arty stuff going on (and so many funky bars). Im going up to the observatory, star gazing tonight. Theres fancy!
