Bonjourno guys and gals!
We are just getting ready to leave Hong Kong now for the sights and sounds of our camper van in Oz so before we left I thought I should quickly write home.
Hong Kong has been an amazing stop which Steve and I are both so glad we made. The whole place seems to be buzzing (and not just because of all the lights!) in a way that reminds me so much of New York. This is definately yet another city that doesn't sleep!
But first back to the last few days of Bangkok. We pretty much spent the time shopping but obviously had to mix this all in with a few waterfalls and tigers, what else!? We both got to stroke a tiger which was such an amazing feeling as they are by far and away the coolest animal something I never thought I would ever get to do. There was the little cub as well which was so playful he was just like an over-sized domestic kitten. What suprised me most though was how strong it was, it almost dragged this poor woman, who was helping at the centre, off her feet when it wanted to play with the other cubs and this was just a kitten!
So anyway we made some great friends on our floating hotel on the River Kwai, see photos, who were such an eclectic bunch. Two girls from Sweden, a French guy called Denis, a group of South Africans a gay German and two Norweigen blokes plus an English girl called Rose, I ask you where else can you get this but on a floating hotel in the middle of a jungle?! When me and Steve returned to Bangkok we were actually joined by the Swedish girls and Rose for one night before we flew out which was a good laugh. The nightlife was pretty good out there and very cheap compared to Hong Kong but we all had a great night before we left Thailand for good which was the main thing. One thing I certainly wont miss from Thailand though is there incredibly high pitched, piercing voices always shouting MASSAGE!! at you from across the street! Honestly, it starts to really grate after a while.
So back to Hong Kong, what a place! The shopping here is so good and the nightlife equally as brilliant. There is even a daily show on at 8pm in the harbour where all of the buildings in Hong Kong light up in time with music. I have a video which I will try and get on here at some point. The in-balance in wealth surprised me somewhat as it seems to be clearly separated by only a single river. In Kowloon, where we are staying, there is much less money than over in Hong Kong where they drive Ferraris, Porsches etc and the shopping centres are completely different.
While me and Steve spent a whole day in Hong Kong there honestly isn't that much to see. There are amazing buildings with inovitive architecture and great shopping centres which Gucci, YSL, Prada, Jimmy Choo etc but really nothing much else, well not until it gets dark anyway!
The area of Wan Chai and Lan Fai Wong (I think that's right) are the busiest nightspots and they are heaving with people from around the globe. I even met an old school friend from Bromsgrove who has come to work over here as a legal head hunter! Oh and before I forget, me and Steve did get up to watch the Ricky Hatton fight this morning which to be fair we thought was a great fight but ye of course we wanted Hatton to win but I guess it wasn't his night.
So tonight is our last night here, we'll be taking some snaps which I will put on here as soon as I can but this machine doesn't seem to want to play ball at the moment. We are off to the night market as well for some last minute shopping and then up early tomorrow to get to the airport and make our way over to Oz. Can't wait honestly! It's so cold here its a bit like England but without the rain.
So that's it for this episode people and I will write again when I can from Down Under as I'm sure it may be a bit difficult living out of a van for four weeks!
Speak to you all again soon
