As it was our last day in Bali we decide to do an excursion that met all our requirements;providing the best of what Bali had to offer in one day and the one we picked offered by the hotel was ace, really was value for money was one of the best days we've ever had!
At 8:30 we were picked up by our guide , a good guy called Wayan (who was dressed in Indonesian head scarf and sarong) and his trusty, mute driver Madi (highlighted mullet and shades).
The day included:
Watching a magical Hindu, indonesian tale/dance callled the Barong and Keris Dance at Batubulan village.
The gold and silver smiths at Celuk.
Contamporary and traditional Indonesian paintings at Ubud.
Wood carving sculptures at Mas village.
The great waterfall at Tegenungan.
The elepahant cave and temple at Goa Gajah at Bedulu.
Exploring and taste testing of coffees herbs and spices at Bedulu.(that was one of our favourites and the coffee provided a much required kick start)
Lunch at a restaurant in Kintamani with amazing views of active, smoking volcano,Mt.Batur and it's lake.
The rice terraces at Tegalalang.
And finally the great Ulu Watu temple, which is on the edge of a cliff with amazing views of the Indian ocean and inhabited by naughty monkeys.Didn't get me this time, despite my bright blue sarong!
We were shattered at the end of this and didn't get back to our hotel till 9.
Next:
6 hour sleep before the flight to Kuala Lumpur. Was ok though, once we got to Depensar airport at 4 in the morning we were entertained by the number of shop assistants asleep outside their stalls, security guards asleep and cats wandering around.
Highlight of the day:Madi, our guide falling asleep between stop offs!I couldn't look at Laura.both sniggering in the back of the mini van, like children.
