After our living nightmare of a bus journey we were looking forward to some relaxing beaches, parties and sun.
We really did get all of the above and much more!
Very much like the Gili islands we encountered earlier on our travels Sihanoukville was perfect only difference was the parties, hawkers and rain storms were x10.
The hotel was great and provided us with plenty of films/sports to keep us entertained during the downpours.
The beahes ('Serendipity Beach' was ours)were amazing and were entertained by the kids, with their witty/cheeky banter;trying to sell bracelets & books and the women persistenty offering food & massages...laura had a couple of those!
Quiet evenings were either spent having a seafood BBQ by the sea (the main fish barracuda, was ace) or at the cinemas (the first film being the Killing Fields-story of an American Journalist & his Cambodian translator during Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge reigme,a detailed and shocking account of the atrocities commited). Not for the faint-hearted,but I recommend.
Busier nights were spent at the bars and clubs around Serendipity which were mental, making company with backpackers and ex-pats.
Again, like the gilis',this place was very difficult to leave but the desire to see amazing new sights (and to get away from the rain!!) got us up and going!
Next stop, Phonm Penh - captital of Cambodia!
Bye!
Christian & Laura
