It is time for another country already, I have crossed the boarder into Laos and to the capital city of Vientiane. I have travelled to the city to meet up with Steve and Sarah to celebrate new years together. Me and Sarah arrive on the 30th and spend most of the afternoon catching up on our recent adventures and then spend the next day exploring the city by foot. By the evening Steve has flown in from Cambodia and we all head out to start the evening.

And then begins the best New Years evening I've had so far, first we head to a courtyard surrounded by nice restaurants and with live music playing on a stage in the centre. We meet up with some friends Sarah has made on her travels and after a few drinks we head to the Beerlao party just down the road. Here the music is a much louder, there are lots more people and everyone is just having a great time. By midnight, the celebrations kick up a gear, everyone throws their drinks in the air and is soaked by beer and who knows what else. The rest of the evening is spent dancing and enjoying being within a mixture of local people and tourists. By about 3am everyone seems to have disappeared and we head home after a brilliant night.

The next day is spent as a relaxing day, planning what adventures are next on everyone's list and enjoying being within the company of good friends from home, while so far away from it.
