Arrived in KL 5th March 2008! Having nearly left our bags in the arrivals hall we set off for our trip to Hostel Cosmopolitan. Armed with a less than detailed set of directions, Luke, Matt and Chris soon found out there is not much fun to be had walking around KL streets with 20kg on your back and 30c of heat beating down whilst not being able to find your hostel. A good hour and a half later, and some serious blue language (and Matt feeling under the weather) we rolled up.
The hostel was clean, but 18 packing into one room made for some interesting sleeping! That evening Luke and Chris 2 manned it. A quick tour of the city to the Petronas towers was first up. After a good 10 mouth open minutes of gazing up at the amazing sight we checked out the swanky shopping mall. Quick lap and it was time for a beer. Steady pint was on the menu and once Luke and Chris pulled their pants back up after paying the bill (5 pound a pint) it was time for bed!!!
Day 2 was a big one! Up early for our maximum 6 slices of toast per guest breakfast, and cruised back down to the towers. Good stint of shopping by the boys before going upto the 42nd floor sky bridge. Good pics and amazing views. Have also now realised how high bungee jumping is going to be! The 3d show with the campest 1980's pilots (sunglasses) was a bonus. After that we treated ourselves to the aquirium. Good bit of fish spotting, Always a laugh. After that and a quick restbite we hit the KL Tower. Again really good views even though the rain had set in. Off to little India for a curry afterwards. They must not have seen too many westerners in the place we went to (or they had been miss informed that we were celebrities) but after a very nice, cheap meal, each waiter requested a photo moment with the three of us. Classic.
Despite the rain we decided to give the nightlife a go. Hit the highly reccommended beach club! An experience. Whilst the club itself was pumping some very good tunes, the clientele was mainly 40 plus year old business boys, who had clearly forgotten they were married as they were each playing host to numerous young local ladies. (The paying variety). Whilst watching someones Dad work his magic (and some criminal dance moves) was funny, it wasn't really our scene so we called it a night - spotting the chaps taking home there purchases!
That was it for KL. Action packed and a great stop over - for the towers alone was worth it. Off to Singapore!
