Day 25 - Chris - After a day at sea yesterday we had booked full day trip to the welsh settlement at Gaiman in Patagonia. Welsh settlers landed in this area in the mid 19th century, having been promised land and help by the Argentinian government.
There are still Welsh speakers in the area, although it is now known as a second language by most. They still teach it as a second language (not everyone - just those that want it) and have teachers coming over from Wales for 2 years at a time.
We started at a museum, which unfortunately was largely repetitive of 19th century based museums that we've seen elsewhere. We then saw a few old buildings before getting afternoon tea where a choir performed a few songs some Welsh, some English some Spanish. On to a farm and a church. Not the most exciting day ever but OK.

Robin It's a good job you had the Welsh add some highlight to your visit here. As for 19th century based museums... You can only take so much of them and then it's just 'same old, same old'.
Claire Alford Still an amazing experience though. Xx
