Hang gliding - what's the difference between para gliding and Hang gliding and which is best. Well not many pilots do both, and it seems that more people do paragliding these days than hang gliding. The benefits being that you can pack up your kit in a huge ruck sack (we thought they were display rucksacks looking at them in the shop) and walk up a hill and jump off. You are sitting in a paraglide where as a hang glider you are duly suspended by a harness and a climbing clip - giving more the sensation of flying. With a hang glider you can go faster, further and you have the right to look like some old time Swedish surfer with a long beard and so much experience that you don't need to talk much.I went hang gliding not for the Swedish - but because it looked more elegant and soothing - although the fact that you have to run off the edge of the cliff was a bit nerve racking - but very soon I was enjoying the view from well above the trees with some one else doing all the driving. I was offered the beam to steer - but refused - I was the passenger.Meanwhile CT was experiencing flying of a different sort, the adrenaline filled type of throwing yourself into an abyss and sinking for 134m - approx 10 seconds - but he can tell you all about that.We were both very disappointed with the rafting - too few and too small rapids, somehow I ended up in the boat with the non swimmers the first of which to fall in - his face was a picture. All a bit too tame and too touristy.
