Chris & pauls world trip
Wed 9th Feb
We are staying at the Holiday Inn at fishermans wharf, hotel is very nice but not as posh as the one in Chicago. We spent most of the first day walking the streets of San Francisco there seemed to be more uphills than down. saw the sea lion colony at pier 39, an amazing sight. they have taken over the area and about 60 sea lions live there all the year round. in the summer there can be anything up to 600 all living around the wharf.
Wev'e not had a decent cup of tea yet, the USA doesn't seem to know what a kettle is. We have a coffee machine in our room and it doesn't get hot enough to make a cuppa, I will just have to stick to bacardi and coke eh!
Thurs 10th
Woke early again and we just had to go and visit the sea lions again, we then took the boat to Alcatraz and the sun was shining on us , it felt quite warm and pleasant.
Alcatraz was very interesting and we got to meet and chat to a real life bank robber who spent 4yrs there.
Had a meal out in Chinatown and then it was off to bed early ready for our bike ride across the golden gate bridge tomorrow.
Fri 11th
Our bodys just don't know what time of day it is we were awake at 4am again, hopefully we will settle down soon and get a good nights sleep.
Weather a bit cloudy today, ideal cycling weather. we set off on our hired bikes at 10am to the golden gate bridge, it was a bit scary cycling over the bridge as I am not the best when it comes to heights, I just looked ahead and peddled like mad. When we got to the other side we carried on to Saulsolito and caught the ferry back across the bay. It was all uphill if we had cycled back so we took the easy option.(not like me eh!) We are taking it easy for the rest of the day got to pack up ready for our early start to Vegas. Watch this space ,more next week from Vegas and Honolulu.xxxx
