We might even come back....
Given that our last experience of a major Vietnamese city was less than impressive, this was a nice surprise. We managed to get one of the cheapest rooms so far, but also one of the nicest. A little guest house down an alley way that you would even realise was there!
So we went to the War Remnants museum which has a whole heap of stuff left over from the Americans leaving, some good, some bad.
We went for a walk to the more upmarket district & i finally got a proper charger for t'ipod - on the way out of the mall some bloke threw himself out of the rooftop restaurant & went splat about 10 feet away...
From there we had a further walk past the opera house & the posh hotels in search of happy hour!!!
Next day we went off to the Cu Chi tunnels were the Viet Cong lived & hid from the French & then the Yanks. Had a wander through the tunnels - didn't have the bottle to go for the original entrance, so we stuck to the 'widened for tourism' ones. Went to the firing range & cracked off a couple of rounds from an M16, then had lunch (boiled tapioca root cos my shooting was rubbish...).
Booked ourselves a trip to the Mekong Delta next so maybe we will finally get rid of that river!!
