OK, so we had an overnight train journey from Hanoi & before the train had even left a guy was trying to get us into his guest house! Somehow he came up with exactly the same problems we'd experienced there (overcharging etc, etc) and said that we will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever have to go through in Hue... So we gave him a chance.
Turns out he was right & we had a pretty good time. We went to visit a war museum (God help any Americans or French who go there!!!) and the Citadel. Unfortunately this had been heavily bombed in the past so there's not much in the way of the Imperial Palace left - still plenty of things to look at though. We even managed to find another couple of Elephants (tusks intact) doing what they do.....
Then we went to the pub with some Kiwis we'd met on the train & got lashed in the DMZ bar! Also got mobbed by motorbike drivers outside offering to take us home.
Next stop Hoi An.
