After almost two days travelling we spend a relaxing day at the Green Garden Hotel and Spa in Tuban, as we await the arrival of Chem later that evening. Here we spend a couple of days enjoying tropical gardens and spa facilities on offer at this tranquil oasis (massage facilities provided free of charge at breakfast!) Before heading off along the beach to the bustling resort of Kuta. At this point Chem become very excited at the sight of the surf and are soon seen diving through the waves in this surfer's paradise.

The following day, Tuesday 17th back-packs are loaded into a taxi as we make our way to the central, cultural area of Ubud. Here we have our first taste of budget accomodation, simple and basic but great value at £5 per room. We stay on Monkey Forest Road and after a short stroll down the road we find out where it gets it's name, wild grey monkeys everywhere! In the evening we attend the traditional Legong dance at the Ubud Palace, before sampling some of the many wonderful bars and restaurants Ubud has to offer.
