Jumped on the bus at 8am for the 6hr journey to Puno, where the floating islands on Lake Titicaca are. Some tout guy caught us coming off the bus and was offering us heaps of deals, we knew the price of one place and we managed to barter him down a bit so we ended up taking that. Once we arrived the hotel we wouldn't leave us alone and kept trying to get us to book the island tour and our bus to Arequipa with him. We told him we get back in touch with him later on once we'd checked out if his prices were any good. We wandered around the town for a wee bit and checked out some of the prices for the tours and stuff. They all seemed to be roughly the same so we contacted the guy and booked out tour and bus with him. Our tour starts at 7am so we headed off to bed to get some sleep.
Next day and up and shower in time for the bus to the harbour, at one point the bus was full of japs and we'd thought we'd booked some jap tour of the island but one or two more white folk turned up. First stop was the floating island which are made from reeds from the lake, they were squidgy at your feet, unfortunately at this point i started to feel a bit ill, i had to sit down while the guide was giving the talk, and i thought i was gonna puke all over the floating island, i don't think the guy that lived there would have been to chuffed. I somehow managed to hold in my puke but i felt worse and worse every hour, we then sat on a boat for 2 1/2 hrs, walked up a big hill and then back on the boat for another 2hrs. By this point i was ready to die and was desperate to go back to the hostel.
Back at the hostel i had a mad fever so Bird went to the chemist and bought me some drugs and some pizza, i managed about 1 slice. Sweating like an animal i managed to get some sleep, not much. Not looking forward to the bus in the morning.
