Crossed the border no problems, passed through Brazil and landed in Puerto Igauzu, didn't book a hostel in advance so went hunting for one, first one we tried was fully booked but we met a guy who seemed to be the tout for the entire town, anything you asked him he had a leaflet for. Finally decided on the sweet hostel which was just round the corner, guy at reception seem ok.
Decided to head to the bus station to book the bus to Rio as we'd heard its busy, absolutely packed would have been a better description as there was only one bus leaving from the Argentina side and it was booked up for a week in advance, we only had the choice to travel over to the Brazilian side and catch a stupidly expensive less comfy bus (for here). Had to pay 60pounds each for the bus, which pretty much would have lasted us about 4 days living.
BBQ night back at the hostel tonight and the guy at reception thought he was doing us a favour by giving us a double bed, in an 8 bedroom dorm, seemed a little weird and all the other folk in the room probably thought we were weirdoes.
Annoying couple in our dorm decided to whisper to each other the entire night, and to top it off the boy next to us was the loudest snorer I've ever heard, this boy would have even destroyed bisset in a snoring competition. At one point it sounded like he was dying.
Headed off to the Falls today which are supposedly a lot better than niagra. Headed off to the main bit first on a wee train, it was really good but you couldn't see much because of all the mist, there was a heap of other parts to look at and luckily they turned out to be a lot better than the first part. We book a speed boat thing that went under some of the smaller waterfalls, thinking we wouldn't get that wet we only brought our poncho things, turned out we got totally soaked through, should have just brought my Speedo's instead.
Did a fair bit of walking through the day and got plenty of really good pictures. Would definitely recommend going to the falls if you're ever near it.
Headed back to the hostel and went out for dinner with 2 guys and a lassie from the hostel, had the best steak i`ve ever had in my life, cost about a tenner for the 2 of us, bargain.
They were also going to Rio but strangely had met to guys outside the bar on the first night who had offered to drive them there for petrol and beer money, the film deliverance comes to mind, I think he's still alive as he sent me a facebook invitation a couple of days later.
Next morning and brid was complaining (shock) that she couldn't sleep as there was a chorus of snoring going in perfect sync, even me.
The daft cleaner had put soapy water down at the front of the hostel, trust me to be the first person to walk on it, totally fell on my butt, in front of the reception, one of those moments that was really sore but you cant show it, luckily brid was on hand to help me, although her idea of helping is just laughing at you as your lying on the floor.
Wandered round town for a wee bit wasting time before our bus, we had to catch the local bus to Foz de Iguazu just over in the border in Brazil, then catch another bus to the international bus station, thinking we had not bad Spanish now and we would manage the Portuguese no problem, we soon realised it was totally different and we were clueless, luckily Brazilians can understand Spanish so we didn't bother learning any Portuguese except "thank you".
Jumped on our 23hr bus to Rio, it was actually quite nice for once, nothing interesting happened on the bus, no couples eating face anyway.
