hi yáll
landed in Mendoza on Wednesday morning and make our way to the hostel, Lagares. hostel was ok, not really clean but the people were quite friendly.
we went on the longest walk through the town and up to a massive park called San Martin National park, was a weird ¨park¨ there were heaps of roads through it! went up to the zoo, there were heaps of animals but they were all pacing the cages, looking really hungry! and the poor polar bear didnt have any water to swim in, was a bit poop but it was only a poumd to get in!!
Finally found a supermarket! couldnt find one in Buenos Aires and we even found frosties for breakfast!
on Thursday we went horse riding for the whole day! proper cowboy style, there was a DIY type saddle on the horse and no helmet or instructions only Gallop Si Rapido!!! it was brilliant! we were going up and down really steep hills, quite funny my horse´s back legs kept sliding going down hill, and chris´s refused to go down one hill and just turned and went back up! you can see how high we were up by the photos. At one point we were on the edge of a small cliff this was good preparation for the most dangerous road in the work when we get to Bolivia. we had Asados (Argentinian BBQ) then at the stables, it was really good, steak and veg. met a relaly nice girl from finland who i think is gonna come to bolivia with us, the rest were yanks, enough said!
Bumped into some guy from Belgium during the walk home at night, claimed he´d been robbed outside the bus station, we weren´t 100% sure if he was genuine or not but in typical aberdonion fashion he never gota penny from me. So if randon belgium guy you are reading this and you actually got robbed i´m sorry, but there was no way i was gonna give you 30quid for the bus to buenos aires!!
Friday we dossed about in the morning trying to find a better translation guide...book shops are weird here there wasn´t even a travel section.
in the afternoon we went on a tour of the vineyards, the first one was massive, Lopez i think was the name of it, we got one measly quarter glass of wine!, but it was nice so i bought a bottle. the next was a tiny one but we got heaps more wine and it was quite funny we were being told how to see its colours and ´count the tears´ and ´smell the aromas´ then when we went to drink it i looked around and chris had downed it ha!! Wine is so cheap though the most expensive 12 year oak reserve was only 30 dollars, I tried to see how I could post it home for you maria but would be a bit dodgey if it would get there in one piece!! Chris says he´s still not a converted wine drinker!
we went to an olive oil factory then, it was good seeing how its made but the best part was tasting their sundried tomatoes and raisins! we were starving so i ate heaps!
we went to a restaurant called Facundo for dinner and both got MASSIVE fillet steaks for a fiver each, we took photos, they were probably about 20oz no joke i couldn´t finish it, it was beautiful!
About a 15,000(no joke) loud yanks checked into the hostel this morning and we are leaving on the night bus to Salta tonight so it looks like we have made a pretty crafty escape, one of them was mincing around the hostel this morning acting ´gansta´saying crap like ´word hommie´ pretty annoying.
Mendoza seems to have some kind of homing beacon for yanks at the moment, hopefully they have not yet discovered salta on a map!!
