It was 5.30am start and we were the first to be picked up by our tour guide, Todd...it was to be the start of a beautiful 3-day friendship...we were told there would be 5people on the tour including us, the tour can usually cater for 21...so we headed over to pick up another guy called Matt, from, you've guessed it, Bromley...and a Frenchman, called Manuel and a girl from Switzerland called Madeliene...it was a pretty quiet 1st leg as everyone was tired...we headed down to Kojunup via a quick stop at Williams...where we went round a rose garden maze and then an aboriginal museum, where we were unexpectedly joined by a living Western Australia legend in the form of Jack Cox, a former boxing champion, which added an element of interactivity to the proceedings which impressed me...then made our way down to the Jingalla wine store, where we had a wine tasting session, followed by the biggest trek ever through woods up to Castle Rock...'The Todd' managed to do it barefoot, which earnt him the name of 'Frodo'...it was worth it as soon as u saw the view from ontop of the rock...was stunning...headed back down to Middleton Beach and then up the Avenue of Honour, where there was a whispering wall and a memorial to fallen veterans...Then made our way to the Hostel in Albany, where Todd cooked up a storm...a stir-fry that was a symphony of flavours...Matt, Ed and I decided to sample what Albany had to offer in the way of nightlife but it was a ghost-town...only finding a couple of teenagers who, replied to finding out we were from London, with 'London...What..?!?! Alan Shearer...?'...bit random
Another early start as we headed down to the 'Gap' and 'Natural' bridge at Torndurup National Park...Todd managed to take a few creative photo's of the group, we then headed down to the Whaling museum, which was pretty gruesome to be honest...a lot of looking at photo's of half cut up whales, just before lunch...the tour wasnt great either...as the tour guide lacked a bit of passion, but then again, it did have a whale slide, which kept me amused for a while. Then headed down to Green's Pool for a swim...one of the nicest beaches we've been on and the water was so clear...we then proceeded to the 'Valley of the Giants' where we did a tree top walk in the forrest...'The Todd' treated us to a bit of natural Diddgerydoo playing on a hollow tree branch...in my naivety i thought he was doing it for real...but he was just making the noises up :( We then headed over to Pemberton to our cottage for the night, where I saw my first Kangaroo's...proper cute animals...!
Another early start the next day as we made our way down to Margaret River, to see Surf's point before making our way to the Whale Watching Tour...considering most tours never see any whales or at best afar in the distance, we were so privilaged...we saw about 7 whales in total, with 3 coming within 10-15metres of the boat and playing alongside...the pictures dont do it justice, but it was an amazing sight to see those Whales break from the water and jump 'Free Willy' style in the air...definately one of the highlights since ive been out here...our trip ended with another wine tasting tour and a chocolate tasting...by this point Me and Todd were inseperable and I mostly sat up front with him, while he told inappropraite jokes and I would DJ for him with tunes from his iPod...he even bought the Artic Monkeys album on my recommedation...so im man enough to admit that i had a lump in my throat when the time came to finally say goodbye...however Matt stayed with us that night in Perth and it turns out that our trips are failry similar, so we will be meeting up with him in Melbourne...The next day was our flight out to Adelaide, so we spent the morning in King's Park with Matt, before heading out to the Airport around midday
