Me and Rosie decided to head down to the falls which meant a 24 hour bus journey from Rio. The bus down wasnt too bad actually considering I used to moan about the bus from Leeds to London!
When we arrived we had to get 3 (yes 3!!) buses to get to our hostel which was the last thing we needed! The bus dropped us off literally in the middle of nowhere and pointed to a dirt track that we were to walk down. It was cold and rainy and we couldnt see a thing in sight! We got to the hostel and were in such a bad mood by this point that Rosie asked the guy why the hell anyone would want to stay here!!
We decided to book on to a tour to the Argentinian side of the falls for the next day as they pick you up from the hostel and sort out passport control for you. This side of the falls was AMAZING!! 80% of the falls belong to the Argentinian side so we were on the go the whole day. First stop was a boat trip that took us right to the falls and got us completely soaked! Luckily I´d brought my rain coat so kept the top half of me dry but everyone else had brought swimware and a change of clothes...we were not this organised!! After this we walked the trails along the top of the falls and the views were stunning, we were both in awe! After some lunch (a vegetarian burger no less...the Argentinians seemed to know vegetarian better than the Brazillians!) we took a train journey through the forest/jungle and then took another hike to the devils throat of the fall and again got wet! All in all a brilliant day, the falls are literally out of this world!
The next day we did the Brazillian side of the falls ourselves as it is only one hike to do so you dont need to do a tour. This side was further away from the falls so we got the panoramic view and it wasnt until this point that we realised how big they were and how many there were! I got chased by a racoon which Rosie thought was hilarious and proceeded to take photos during my cries for help! Turns out he was after my ice lolly as a man from the shop came running out gesturing for me to hold my lolly higher!!
The next day we decided to book the late bus back to Rio so we could spend the day by the pool relaxing as we´d since changed our mind about the hostel and now loved it! It´s set in a farm and is such a nice relaxing setting and apart from the rain when we first arrived the weather for the rest of our stay was nice!
I have so many photos but my lead doesnt work so will hopefully get them up as soon as I can find someone with the same lead or get a card reader!
