Yesterday, after a beautiful drive through the Swiss Alps with gorgeous mountain and lake views, we arrived in Lucerne around 3:00pm. Upon arrival, we saw a huge carving on a rock face of a betrayed lion. The lion represents fallen Swiss soldiers during the French Revolution. The lion's face had so much emotion on it, it must've taken so long to do!
After that, the group had some free time to explore Lucerne. It was so beautiful! It has medieval style buildings and churches and wooden walking bridges over the river.
In town, we went to a Swiss watch store. Before this trip, I told myself that if I buy myself one thing this trip, it would be a watch. So there I was in a watch store in the time keeping capital of the world, so I splurged a little on myself and bought a Swiss-made watch. I think I'm worth it!
Once the shopping time was over, we were dropped off at the hotel. The hotel was an old jail that was converted into a hotel. It was charming, but not a place I would want to stay too long... It was a little creepy.
We had a quiet night in a sports bar by the hotel and called it an early night. I needed some sleep for the big drive to Paris today! 8 hour drive!
