It was goodbye to Banff this morning. The early birds on tour travelled to Sulphur Mountain to ride the gondola. What can I say, the view from the top is incredible. 7500m high it gives you a Great look at that valley bottom. The Fairmont still looked impressive from this height. A big day today. Left Lake Louise at 7.30am. We travelled along the Icefields Parkway to beautiful Athabasca Glacier. The glacier is 1000 feet thick, so no risk of falling through. We ventured onto the glacier via the $1.2 million ice explorer and walked and slid around the glacier at our leisure. We boarded the Rocky Mountaineer from Kamloops and enjoyed the spectacular views on a thankfully sunny day. I can't describe how beautiful the Rockies are. Snow still visible on the peaks and flowing water everywhere thanks to the recent flooding but also summer. We could stay on the train only until reaching a little town called Golden.
