A big day today. Left Lake Louise at 7.30am. We travelled along the Icefields Parkway to beautiful Athabasca Glacier. The glacier is 1000 feet thick, so no risk of falling through. We ventured onto the glacier via the $1.2 million ice explorer and walked and slid around the glacier at our leisure. On route, we had a stop at Lake Peyto, beautiful blue and the reflection of the snow capped surrounding mountains made for fantastic photos. A quick lunch break and on the road again. An option today was to raft down the Athabasca river. A nice relief from the bus, so all our party participated. Took about an hour and worth it. Some of us wetter than others by the time we were finished. Finally the Athabasca Falls where group tour photo was taken. Beautiful wherever you look. All the parks are busy, haven't seen so many motor homes. Finally we arrived at Jasper. Another Fairmont Hotel, but in cabins which is nice. Have gone ffom freezing this morning to breaking out some summer clothes this evening. Rex had Venison for dinner which was very rare...not for me. Still daylight here at 10.45pm so time for some sleep.
