We spent the first 2days on Rainbow Beach doing pretty much nothing in preparation for our trip to Fraser Island!On Monday morning we woke early for our briefing on the jeeps and packing everything on to the roof. We got the next bus to Airlie Beach where we spent a few days including Brads birthday. On the Friday evening there was a huge firework display for the beginning of the Reef Festival which we watched from the small beach. Early start this morning to catch our first of many OZ Experience buses down to Townsville and Magnetic Island. We stopped at Johnston river Crocodile Farm along the way to check out the 2000 crocodiles including a giant captured saltie which was over 18ft! The owner even sat on his back and placed his hat on its head. After a tour of feeding the crocs we held baby crocs, snakes and blue tongued lizards. Arrived in cairns in the evening and checked into Esplanade backpackers. The hostel has a great location, right next to the lagoon which is huge! We spent most of our time at this lagoon including our evenings having bbqs and watching the world go by.We spent a day out on the Barrier reef with passions catamaran (I was sick within 30mins of hitting some waves!) A 6am pick up by our 3rd and final guide Will and straight to the camel farm for an optional ride and breakfast. Then we began our long drive to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) which are huge rocks in the middle of the red centre, nearby to Uluru.
