cat's journey!
flew to Cairns with Emily & Kate who I met in Melbourne and stayed here for a week. Had a few lazy days in the sunshine then me & Emily took a 1nt trip to Cape Tribulation which was good. It took in a cruise along the Daintree River which was a bit disappointing as we only saw one crocodile and that was from a distance, although maybe that was for the best! After that we went for a walk through the rainforest before arriving at our accomodation for the night. Like typical girls we headed straight for Cape Tribulation beach. Unfortunately we couldn't swim in the sea due to a few residents there..i.e crocodiles. You'd be surprised how many people ignored the signs though and still swam there..rather them than me! In the evening we headed to P.K's resort for a few drinks and had a good night in there. It was pretty scary walking back to our resort though, it was about 10mins away but pitch black, we'd also been told by others that they'd seen snakes in the road the previous night! The next day we had a few hours to kill before being picked up to go back to Cairns..so yep you guessed it we went to the beach, it was a different beach though, so i guess that makes it ok?! On the way back we stopped off at Mossman gorge which was lovely. Unfortunately we didn't have long there, enough for a quick dip and in my case it was quick..the water was freezing! Dropped in at Port Douglas as well for a quick look around. In the evening we met back up with Kate and watched the Australian Rugby Final on the big outdoor screen..Melbourne V Brisbane. I have no idea about Rugby by the atmosphere was good!
We had an early start the next day to go to the Reef..which after having a few drinks the night before wasn't good! We had the option of having a 3 hour boat trip which was the cheaper option or one of 1hour 30mins. We took the cheaper option as thought it would also be nice lazing on the boat..how wrong were we! In Kate & Emily's words..it was "ever so" rough! I can't say I felt that good, but i was one of few that didn't throw up! Did a bit of snorkelling around the reef which was fab, was glad to get back on dry land though! It was my last night with the girls as they start to head down the coast, which I start tomorrow. I will miss their company...as we had "ever so" much fun!
