G'day from the land down under...
We've just got back from a pretty amazing three days but I'll probably miss out stuff because we've done so much!
Right, we got up pretty early on Weds for our free pancakes which were amazing - and then had to reduce all our luggage for Fraser. We got put into our groups the night before so that was all sorted but when we were getting our vans all ready for the island it was about 31 degrees and everyone was just sweating buckets so Marie and I had a sneaky jump in the pool.
Our guide for the three days was called Micko and he was awesome - typical Aussie, long blonde hair, so relaxed...basically just really cool. We left for the island about 9.30 and caught the barge over which was cool :) amazing views of the island. When we got over there we drove along the 75 mile beach to this spot where we all got out and walked for about 40 mins in the boiling sun through forests to this massive sandblow - basically a desert in the middle of the forest and then we came to this massive hill, which on the other side had a MASSIVE lake - which was the nicest thing to see at that moment because you can't swim in the sea on Fraser because of the sharks, rip tides, sea snakes and stingers. We all went swimming for about an hour before walking back in the pouring rain (yes, that's right the weather's mental here!!)
After that, we went to our camp to set up our tents which was alright, apart from being biten to death by march flies (horrible giant flies that suck your blood!) When that was all sorted we started to cook our dinner we had the most amazing steak provided by the company...literally the best. After dinner we just chilled played some stupid games run by the most mental spanish in our group!! So funny. But apart from that and some crazy midnight photos on the beach - that was the first day.
Day 2.
We got up pretty early and got the best of the morning sunshine at a place called Eli Creek, which was a lovely fresh water creek, that had a boardwalk to the top of the creek and you just float down - it was beautiful and very refeshing. Micko said it was going to be freezing but it was 18 degrees...they don't really know what freezing is over her.
We then got back in the trucks and drove to the pinnacles which is this amazing sand cliffs, that have incredible colours in them - very pretty. After that we hopped back in the jeep to go and have a look at the wreck of a ship called the Maheno which had a pretty cool History - the sun was shining and we took some very artistic photos!
Our next stop was a place called Champagne pools which reminded us a lot of Treyarnon which then became quite funny as it started to pour with rain - literally felt like being in the sea at home in the summer!! It pretty much rained then for a couple of hours but we still managed to walk up to Indian Head which had a stunning view from the top! Despite the torrential rain!
When we got back to camp it was completely flooded but it was absolutely hilarious - there were just two massive pools of water where our tents had been! Luckily all of our stuff had been kept in the truck because you can't leave anything out because of the dingoes (wild dogs that like to eat your food and stuff)
The rain subsided in the evening and we had a really cool night, hanging with the people from the other camp, looking at the full moon and stars on the beach and basically just living the dream...
Day 3.
Was awesome. Drove through the forests on the island (slightly painful) to Lake Mackenzie, the most beautiful lake ever. It's crystal clear and the sand is white. It was like something out of a holiday brochure. The sand is an amazing exfoliant as well and cleans jewellery! :) After that we had about an hour's drive back to catch the barge back - we were jamming to S Club 7 on the way back - our guide was lovin' it.
When we got back to the hostel we met all the people that were going on the Fraser the next day - so it was cool to tell them what it's like and stuff! And then I had the most amazing shower ever - nicest thing after 3 days of roughing it. So yeah, that's pretty much it! Think we're heading to Mooloolaba tomorrow and then going to Australia Zoo to see some animals and stuff...should be good :)
The weather's still majorly tempermental here, burning sunshine and then minutes later pouring rain but right now, it is gorgeously sunny with a warm breeze! Hope the everything's good in the homeland - missing you all loads. Lucy, you'd love it here...not Africa but could definitely see you having an amazing time - wish you could be here. Thank you all for your lovely messages! Take care and speak to you soon. Love Chloe.
P.S sorry for the randomness of this message, I just don't make any sense at the moment, I'm too chilled out! <3
