G'day from the land downunder,
We've had a very busy few days but they've been great! The day after we got back from Fraser we were up early, which was a bit ridiculous 'cause we were shattered, we were literally on the beach by 8.30 - but it's the best time to be down there because it gets so hot! The weather was very changeable though, but it just made it quite entertaining. We had to spend quite a while in the travel agent that day too but that's not very interesting! At 5ish we walked up to the Carlo Sandblow at Rainbow Beach - but we missed the walking tour so we made our own way - got a little bit lost, but we still made it in time to watch the sunset :) which was probably the most beautiful thing I've seen since we've been there! Got some incredible pictures. Walking back we got a little bit lost again but it just doesn't matter here, you feel incredibly chilled out all the time! The Aussie attitude of 'it could be worse' sort of takes over whenever a problem occurs.
We spent the evening down under one of the gazibos next to the beach having drinks with the other group that had just returned from Fraser - cos we'd made friends with a lot of them. We walked down to the beach and looked at the moon and stars and then walked back to the hostel and had a very well-earned Boost bar. Now our favourite chocolate bars in the world!
Yesterday, we caught a bus down to Noosa. Well, actually, we caught separate buses, which was quite funny, although I did miss Marie a little bit :/ We then dumped our stuff at our amazing hostel and then went on a long walk around Noosa National Park which is beautiful. There are 4 different walks in total and we did the longest which goes around the headland and then through a foresty type area that is right infront of these gorgeous beaches. One of which was a nudist beach - which we didn't realise until we saw a very naked old man!
Carried on, looking for koalas the whole time but unfortunately didn't see one! :( But it was a gorgeous walk and we'll see them when we get down to the Gold Coast so it's alright. After our walk we went back to the hostel and chilled out with a really lovely Canadian couple and these Lebanese guys which was so funny! This guy's friend had just shown him Borat that day and he was doing impressions and had us all in stiches. The next morning we hired surf boards for free at our hostel and went over to the main beach in Noosa cos the surf is better than Sunshine Beach (Noosa is split into three parts) it was really rubbish and flat when we got there but it did pick up and then we actually caught some good waves. This Aussie guy was teaching his kids to surf and gave us some pointers which was useful :) After surfing for a couple of hours we dumped our boards back on the shuttle and then walked around the town and found this woodland path which we followed to the river. There was this jetty there where we stayed to watch the sunset and just basically chill out. Went back and had more nice chats at hostel and chilled out some more. The next morning we caught an early Greyhound to Mooloolaba which is about an hour south of Noosa but not so much of a popular tourist spot which is nice. We managed to get to our hostel in time for the free tea and toast breakfast and ended up having about 8 slices each! After that we got a free paddle board session down the river with a guy that works/lives at the hostel and used to go to Newquay all the time - which was nice and funny. We went back to the hostel and then had a walk around the town and talking in the sights - not that many! Before heading back to the hostel to pick up the kayak which we then kayaked all round the river here. The houses are incredible - kinda reminds me of Fowey but all the houses are very new and soooo flashy! Steve Irwin's house is here but we didnt know which one it was. In the evening we went out with these aussie girls we met in our hostel - they're here for Australia day! Ended up meeting some really cool people and going back to the hostel at 5.30 in the morning after a much neeeded Maccy D's and watching the sunrise. Sorry this is all so muddled and rushed but internet isn't free at this hostel! Will write about Australia Day tomorrow - going to join in with the festivities now. Lots of love, hugs and wishes, Chloe xxx P.S I'm missing nice wine after work - that's how bad the goon is!- comments
