G'day and hello :) Wow, so much has happened over the past couple of days.
So, on Sunday we got up early and went for a breakfast BBQ with Gareth and Nina! It was amazing, they sure know how to BBQ over here. We had Bacon, Sausage, Egg, Hash Browns and Beans! Literally the best breakfast. Then we went and walked around this gorgeous little market selling fruit and handmade jewellery and stuff. I wanted to buy some but I'd left my wallet at home.
Afterwards, we went back, packed and then they drove us back into Brisbane because Marie left her phone where we had dinner on Friday night and some nice Aussie guy who worked there had picked it up! We went back into town, did some more shopping :/ picked up her phone (all with our rucksacks - we looked very cool) and then went to catch our bus from the Transit Centre to SURFER'S PARADISE.
Surfer's was very different to anywhere we'd been so far. The beach is beautiful, the water is crystal clear (which it wasn't further north because of the flood water) but there are high rises right next to the beach which, after living in Cornwall all my life, is just plain strange.
When we got to Surfer's we just explored the town a little bit, had some dinner and then had some drinks. We met some pretty cool people at our hostel. A guy that came from Manchester, a girl from Switzerland and then some cool Canadians. We all ended up going out to this club which was pretty fun and had another late night.
The next morning, Marie's friend Jaiden, who she met in Nepal came and picked us up and took us to Burleigh Beach (down the road from Surfer's) and we went swimming. Took a walk through this park to a creek and went swimming again - I had a bit of a sleep too (much needed) The we went back to Jaiden's house where we've been staying. It's gorgeous. Literally reminds me of a very gorgeous porgugese villa. Her Mum cooked us a lovely BBQ. It had everything. We tried Barrimundi - which is a very popular fish over here and it's delicious.
We sat outside just eating and chatting unti quite late, had a late night dip in the pool and then just chilled until bed.
And then today, we had a crazy day. As we've been pretty reserved spending money on activities we decided to splash out and go to the theme parks here. We got an unlimited pass to White Water World and Dreamworld for $69, which is pretty good. And it was sooooo worth it.
We've been on some crazy rides today, it was so funny. There was this one water slide, where you get in it and it's like you're standing in a pod. And then this guy speaks to you whilst you're in it going..."Wedgie in 3, 2, 1...." And then in about 30 seconds you realise why!!!! The trap door opens and you literally drop down this slide, it's very fun, but also quite terrifying. You also get the worst wedgie at the end of it.
There were loads of other crazy rides, too many to mention. We also FED KANGAROOS and saw koalas. We didnt get to hold the koalas cos it cost loads of money but we did get pretty close. Mike (Jaiden's Dad) picked us up and we came back to another amazing tea of homemade burgers and salad and stuff. AND, they have the most amazing coffee machine here. Loving it.
So yeah, there's my ramblings of the past couple of days. Going down to Byron on Thursday for what I expect will be a wild few days of activities and the like.
Missing you all, was lovely to skype Mum, Dad and everyone the other day :) glad you're all well. I'm hoping to bring you all back some sunshine but I can't make any promises.
Lots of love,
Chloe <3
P.S Lucy, you're the best sister ever and I miss you soooooooo much. xx
