This morning me and two sisters from my room went to discover a bit more of Cairns. We started off trying to walk to the Royal Botanic Gardens but in the heat it just wasn't feasible, so halfway there we jumped on a bus.
The gardens were great, but similar stuff to what I've seen already. We didn't spend to long walking around. We had our packed lunches and made our way toward the base of a hill to begin a lookout walk.
We had a choice between a five hour return, or an hour return, so we went for the shorter walk. At the top was a nice bench with a lookout over Cairns and its airport. After watching a few planes float in and shoot off we headed back down and caught the same bus back to the hostel.
I did my laundry once again, which I'm getting much better at. As if you can be good at laundry. I was temped to throw the suitcase in its entirety in...but I didn't think it would have fit. Once that was done I read my book and cooked the same impressive spag bol.
I then showered and dressed and waited for the sisters to go out for a drink. After a long wait only one of the girls wanted to go out. I wasn't feeling to great but didn't want to let anyone down so at 10 o'clock we tried to find a club.
After poor navigational skills on both parts and general aimless walking we found a club to go to. It was such a strange experience. I was stone cold sober as I didn't have a single beer in me. It being late and everyone else around me being drunk made me feel totally out of place. I was just so aware of everyone and didn't enjoy myself at all! Lots of rigid dad dancing followed! I tried to improve the night by drinking a beer, but at $7 a pint I didn't drink much. My cough however meant I wasn't going to be out long. I was coughing my guts up and in some way was thankful because it gave me a reason to jump ship and go to bed.
