'It's swell' takes on a different meaning, after what has been a sweltering but action packed few days spent in the big apple. K has enjoyed the familiarity of returning after 8 years. S has not enjoyed the lack of signage on the public transport system, and is glad that K has a good memory!
So not to bore you all, we'll summarise some of the highlights:
- Meeting friends and family, especially the gorgeous RubyRubyRuby!
- Food, right... You may have heard the rumours that the portions are huge. For the record, we CAN confirm, THEY ARE. Particular credit goes to, Nicks restaurant (29th and 8th), Market Diner (around 11th and 47th) the service here by the Greek Scott George was fundamentally fantastic. New York cheesecake in New York (how about that!). And a very special home cooked saag paneer, compliments to the chef.
- Losing money with style and getting sunburnt in Atlantic City with loved ones.
- Hours of walking in Manhatten; walking in the torrential rain, stumbling upon six and a half avenue, Time Square, Flatiron, High Line, Ground Zero, Grand Central Station, Fifth Avenue, Union Square, Central Park., a glimpse of the Intrepid... And some. Did we mention the heat, don't forget your flannel to wipe your brow!
- Fourth of July fireworks on the Hudson River (patriotism at it's best, the Americans certainly know how to unite).
- Trying sheesha at Babylon Lounge in mid town, where the DJ teased us with one Hindi track!
- Crossing the river to New Jersey, the garden state, providing a very different feel to NYC.
