Day 2
First time I decided to go to bed without setting an alarm, waking up at 09:50 and almost missing breakfast ending at 10:00! After filling our bellies with cinnamon French toast we headed to the Mall of the Emirates for some window shopping and a light bite to eat and gazing over the largest indoor ski slope in the world.
Our 4x4 driver (Mohammad) arrived for our pick up later than expected, which didn't seem to matter as he made up for it with his mischievous personality and erratic (but skilled tbf) driving - this helped to pass the time for our 2 hourish drive into the desert. After arriving to some pretty knarley looking sand dunes it was time to shift it into 4x4 mode and make our way to the rally point with the rest of the convoy. Once finding everyone we had a chance to climb one of the dunes while Mohammed deflated the tires on our 4x4 and couldn't believe our luck when we saw a bunch of wild camels passing through. Met a great couple from Cambridge who were tagging along in our car who made the day that little better.
Pictures taken and shoes full of sand we headed back to the car to head out for some real dune rallying. After a stomach churning 45 minutes, we sat on some dunes waiting for the sun to set before heading to an old village for a traditional Arabic feast, shisha, henna tattoos and belly dancing ;). All in all, one of the most satisfying days I've had for a long time :).
