Zaid's entry: So we made it to Jordan fine. I don't like traveling by plane, let-alone such long distances, but aside from consistent light turbulence, the flight was fine.
I haven't had a chance to do any real in depth site seeing yet. When I have some free time in between visiting family, I've gone for walks to explore my neighbourhood (my folks have a "flat" here in an area called Dar Ghber).
Actually, right now I am sitting at a Starbucks using their wi-fi. This wouldn't be my first choice but it was the first place I found that had Internet access.
The cover photo is a view of the neighborhood (and more) from our window.
Initial thoughts so far: the driving is as ridiculous as I remember it though I think I will still attempt to rent a car to places, I know more Arabic than I thought I did (had a slight conversation with a shop-keeper last night), and people are very hospitable and friendly.

Charlene Cool! The city looks VERY different than anywhere I've been. I'm excited that you are picking up Arabic better than you thought! Can't wait to see you and your family in a week. Hope your dad is feeling better at home!
Chris Do they serve "sand"wiches at the Starbucks there?
Charles "Sand"wiches!!! Very funny!!!!
Bonny and Neal We are enjoying this vicarious travel experience! Keep sending photos. Love that blue sky, we are having a rainy grey Spring day today.
Zaid Ya - they of course had some sand"wiches" there but they had more deserts.
