charlz n smilz world trip!x
TUESDAY
Ok, so it has been a whole week since our last update and this proving very difficult to remember! So this morning we got up, after our sessions of free drinks, to find that our camera had magically disappeared-see told you this new technology was spooked!! During the night, it has sprouted little legs and walked away! We turfed the room upside down, retraced our last steps and even phoned the cab company, nowhere to be found, SADLY. So again we found ourselves with no photos, only slightly dissapointing!! Never mind on with the show! So today we spent the day shopping for a new camera, we got a much better one which we suppose will be worth it in the long run, as the old one didnt even take night pics. Tonight we just stayed by the pool and chilled, as we booked our trip to the Grand Canyon!!
WEDNESDAY
Grand Canyon Trip!!!
We were being collected from another hotel, the Golden Nugget, at 5:45am, which was about a 20 min walk. We arrose all smiles to get ready (not too smiley) and made ouyr way to the collection point where we waited and waited and waited and waited. At about 9:30am, we decided to cut our losses and that nobody was coming for us :( :( So to cheer ourselves up we went for an all you can eat buffet breakfast - hooray - more food!! There was everything you could imagine, from philladelphia and smoked salmon, fruit, bagels, waffles, the usual boring cereals, we opt6ed for the full fry up including 5 spring rolls which were so gorgeous we had seconds!! We decided we needed to take action against these people who had let us down on our great adventure outing so returned to the hostel to call, however the woman/man didn't make much sense so we decided to cancel it and instead, re-booked with a different company.
That afternoon we went to the strip for a stroll around, a few more free drinks and a Luxor buffet. WOW, no other buffet was as amazing as this! It was far too difficult to choose what to have, there was every nationality of food, about 3 huge sections of seperate counters, they even had sushi for starters! It was top quality and for only $20 each!! We had a right feast, again. After this, and feeling incredibly stuffed, we went to watch a show called 'Fantasy'- I'll let you look at the billboard pic to explain what it was like!! That didnt finish until about midnight and we woz well nakered!! But tomorrow was another big day!!
THURSDAY
Grand Canyon Trip!!! Hooray, this time we had been smarter than yesterday and insisted they collected us from the hostel so nothing could go wrong this time. At 5:45am the coach collected us and took us to a huge depo, where we were given breakfast - a danish pastry, juice and coffee (not bad for free!!) We were transferred onto another 'motor coach' where we set off for the Hoover Dam. Our tour guide was called Bob, a 65 yr old guy who spoke just like Morgan Freeman, he was a well cool guy and knew everything about Vegas and the mob, its history, he was really excellent. The hoover dam was immense, however we didn't stop here apart from at the top lookout point so it was a bit difficult to see just how huge it was. Bob took us first on a detour to where all the workers had lived whilst they were building it, he had some incredible facts and figures about them all. This was Boulder City, and it is the cleanest U.S city of all the states, a $2,000 fine for littering!!!
After the dam, we were out in open dessert, full of Joshua trees, which were named by the moormen. I am now wishing I had wriiten down some of the stuff he had told us, coz there was so much!! The dessert was just like you see on all films, trailers parked everywhere and Bob said they have a contest each year for who has accumulated the most scrap in their yards!!If you can call them yards? None of these people had water out here, and each day had to go to a town to fill a huge water barrel on their truck.
We arrived in the middle of nowhere, at a gas station, bit scary, glad there were about 50 others with us!! Here we swapped coaches to a more nakered looking one - soon to find out why. There was no road, just a dirt track and lots of pot holes!!but it was fun bouncing about, however after 11 miles the novalty wore off.
We passed cowboy ranches yeeha! As soon as we got off the coach we were into a small hut for briefing, then into the hellicopter (I should say now that I had been pooping myself about this part for the past 2 nights), and yep they knewit!into the front cockpit they put me, with glass floors and all as well as huge glass bubble front. No way, so I got out and chickened it in the back. It was a bit bumpy and I was gripping on for my life whilst Lee was smiling away looking downwards at every opportunity he got! We hit the bottom phew, and onto a much safer boat ride down the very muddy Colarado river. Unfortunately this time we had a strong accented chinese tour guide and couldnt undersatnd a word he was saying!! but the views were all you needed anyway. SEE PICS
The hellicoptet took us back to the top where we had lunch made by Hallupai indians which was yum. We walked around and took more pics, the view was actually better from the edge of it all than in the hellicopter, but it still looked unreal because it was so BIG!!! It did actually just look like a postcard.
After a very long day, we didnt get back until about 8pm, we had to collect our packs from the hostel, as tonight we were staying at the Stratosphere, and guess what, we had another all you can eat buffet for tea which was good. We wnet to the shops, got some beers, drank 1 and then I hit the deck, completely knakered. Miss Smiley telephoned and spoke to Lee, sorry I missed your call!
FRIDAY
Paulos telephoned in the morning and spoke to Lee, again I was asleep. Today we were flying back to L.A so we went back over all our steps, retaking all the pics we had lost.
The flight was easy and everything went smoothly, as we took a shuttle from the airport to our hostel (which the hostel refunded us!mint!)
SATURDAY
We awakened to find that we were only sharing dorms with 2 girls we had met in the Las Vegas hostel - how weird is that? Today we vowed to do NOTHING, we went to a supermarket, as we decided to stop living the high life, as our 2 week holiday was over and start to slum it backpacker style!) So we cooked spag bol that eve and sat outside repairing Smilz's ripped backpack.
SUNDAY
We did NOTHING, on the night Lee went to the comedy club night held at the hostel with Lisa, the girl we met in Vegas, whilst I recovered in bed from last nights vino - oops!!
MONDAY
Gosh this is alot to write!! Today we came to enroll at the local library, which is 2 blocks from where we are staying, free internet!! Our hostel where we are now staying is a step away from the main strip which is mint and makes life much easier as there shops and everything you could need on your doorstep. Today was another grand outing to Rodeo drive baby!! We took the bus and strolled around the shops - window shopping only. We found a gorgeous Italian restaurant to have lunch which was well nice!! We sat outside so we could people spy, we saw quite a few cool cars, including a Lambourghini outside the Regent Beverly Wiltshire - just like the film, kind of!! The shops were very sexy, as were the people shopping in them. I went into a real estate shop to get a broshure and look at celeb houses for sale, dont think we'll be moving here just yet! That night we strolled around the shops back near where we stay on the strip, theres a huge indoor/outdoor shopping mall, where the chinese theatre is. We also read the stars foot/hand prints in clay outside the theatre and then went for Starbucks, then bedxx
TUESDAY
So now its today, and thankGod thats all written up and hasn't cost us anything!! Only took 2 hrs!! Going to Malibu beach today to chill out. Over and Out.
