CC&J's Travels
Hiya,
Just me on my own now as the girls have set off for Fiji, lucky things! Thought i'd update the site, as we've been so busy the last few days and we haven't had a chance!
Townsville was good, a bit quiet, but we only had time for a look around. Think we were all glad to get back on the greyhound bus the next morning for the final time, especially as we were all practically eaten alive by bugs in our hostel (even though we drowned ourselves in mozzie repellant) Got to Cairns in the evening, and stayed at a sweet little guest house about 20 mins walk from the centre of town, thanks to charlotte's bartercard!
Spent the next day checking out Cairns and the gorgeous lagoon, and buying presents at the buzzing night markets. Next day we did a bush safari, all the way up to Cape Tribulation. It was a great day- we got to see real crocs in the wild on the daintree river, swim in a fresh water creek (no crocs in there luckily!), walk around the beautiful rainforest, and taste some billy tea- much like normal tea, but more fragrant and fun to make- and some not-so-native tropical fruits, some of which we spat out.
Yesterday was spent sailing on a small boat to the outer reef. It was, well, a bit of a journey... The 3 hours there were spent sitting in the rain trying not to throw up (half of the passengers failed). Jo went very quiet and green. Oddly enough, being the one who usually feels sea sick, i was absolutely fine... The whole trip was well worth it though, as we got to spend a good few hours exploring the warm tropical waters and pointing at every rainbow coloured fish we saw!
Keep leaving messages, as i'm around, and the girls can read them and update you when they get to melbourne! Love Claire xxx
