Surprisingly we both woke up at 7:30am which means we only had three and half hours sleep! I was still drunk but Chris didn't feel too bad and still wanted to do the hike. We managed to get up and go to breakfast, not before knocking on Steve and Emma's door first. We could see them still asleep in bed. I shouted through their window that I could see Emma's boob which made Steve quickly jump up and check! We left them and joined Josef and Ivan in the restaurant, we knew they wouldn't get up!
I wasn't sure if I would still hike at first, I wanted to but I was worried my hangover would hit me while we were up there. The hike is very high up along the hills and there's no shade to hide under. I had a quick lay down then a big poo and decided to go last minute.
We had a big pile of laundry that needed doing, some of it was wet and really smelly from being left on the shower floor! It was gorgeous outside so it was the perfect day for it, Chris handed it to Peter before we left and told him we needed it by tomorrow morning, he took the bag and said it would only cost $10!
We began our hike at 9:30am, it really was a beautiful sunny day outside and there was a cool breeze which was well appreciated. I put my iPod in and didn't talk to anyone for the majority of the hike. It was a really nice hike, although the grass was taller than we thought and was annoying when it whipped your legs, some of it was taller than me! Small birds hovered above us for most of the way, at first we thought they were trying to protect their area but then realised they were catching the insects that flew out of the grass as we passed through. They were darting so close in front of us and making little chirpy noises, at one point I felt a light thud on my head and thought it was one of them, then realised it was probably a large grasshopper.
Now and then the wind would drop and we could feel how hot the heat from the sun was, we were all sweating even though we were taking our time. I felt like giving up as we got close to the top, I was litrally sweating my hangover out and could feel my heart beating hard against my chest as if I had just been running on a treadmill for an hour (I exagerate that, I could never last on a treadmill for that long). I stopped every few minutes to catch my breath and watched as the others walked on. I was really glad when we made it to the top though, we were standing at the top of the second highest hill or mountain in the Yasawas Islands. The views were incredible, we could see the different shades of blue and greens from the corals out at sea. We could also see out to other resorts. There was no shade so we only spent fifteen minutes up there, we had a quick snack and drank some water before we started to go back down.
Going down was a lot easier, although I slipped a few times. It took us an hour and twenty minutes going up and for some reason the same going down. We had the same birds following us chasing bugs and insects it was kind of like a game to them. We almost got lost as we got nearer to the bottom taking the wrong path but found our way back in the end. We were very wet from sweat and our shoulders were slightly red. The big group had already had their lunch and had left some un opened big bottles of water on their tables so me and Chris grabbed the chance for a freebie and took one each!
We were back at 12:25pm, my feet felt so hot! I took my trainers off then peeled my socks off taking my toenail polish off with them, it had melted into the fabric! Chris went for a cold shower while I laid in the sea to cool down. I could feel little fish sucking at my toes! Chris came out then I went in the shower and we went for lunch.
The large group were gone so we were back to basic meals again, not that they changed much when they were there. I had a free massage which was supposed to be at 2pm but the lady didn't turn up until 3:15pm so we chilled out in the room until then. Both our massages were half an hour, so we didn't go for tea and cake until 4:30pm. Josef and Ivan were still waiting for us in the restaurant when we left so wall went over together. We had coconut pie today with custard, it was really nice but I missed the chocolate!
On our way back along the beach I noticed oysters on some rocks. I told Chris then we went to the kitchen to get a knife. Emma and Steve came back with us and we cracked open a few and ate them fresh. They were small but they were nice. I was surprised Emma liked them as she's quite fussy. She made us laugh when she said she doesn't like slimy things in her mouth, we didn't believe that after last nights conversation.
Steve found a golf ball so Emma ran up the hill and smashed it back out to sea. Then we sat in the cemetery and watched the sun set. It was a bit cloudy so it wasn't that great. We found Josef sitting in his own portable hammock from Bali! We really want one now so will keep an eye out for one when we are there. As soon as the sun disapeared I felt the mozzies start to attack so we went back to our room.
Dinner was really bad tonight, they served us a plate of special fried rice but there was nothing special about it! We were tired and are checking out tomorrow morning so didn't want to stay up tonight. Chris went and checked on our laundry and the staff told him it was done but locked away in the maids room. We said good night and heading back to bed.
