Our last day in Pushkar started with a very early morning trek up a mountain to see the sunrise! There were monkeys everywhere and was probably the most exercise we'd done in about 10 years, so after almost dying we got to the top just in time! The rest of the day was given to do whatever we wanted so a few of us went to look at the market and after being harassed with flower petals being dumped in our hands and Indians all over the place forcing us to go to Pushkar's famous holy lake, we gave in and asked if we had to pay. They said no and so we thought there was no harm! Next thing we know we're made to sit separately whilst two men start sprinkling water over us and chanting some prayers about Vishnu and whatnot, asking us to repeat after them 'good karma, good bless your husband, your family, your children.' When this came to an end they started asking us for 1000 rupees which we refused and making us pay at least some! Chucking down a 100 rupee note we run off only to be harassed by an Indian women grabbing our hands and drawing stupid, horrible little hennas that look like a 2 years grabbed a henna pen and graffitied over your body! Being so overwhelmed we went back to the hotel and told everyone how we had been ripped off but only to be calmed by the fact these two others, Henry and Heidi had paid 1800 rupees to sit by this not so holy, man-made pond, they called a lake!
