Week 8- Thailand (Pai) Day 7
Today we was leaving to go to Pai, we had breakfast then Nuny took us to the bus station. We all took motion sickness tablets this time as we knew what to expect. The journey to Pai took around 2 and a half hours. Katy had the directions to our resort and according to google maps it took 7 minutes to walk there so we decided to give it a go. It was midday and super hot so carrying our back packs around wasn't fun. We soon realised that we was walking in the completely wrong direction. Charlotte stopped a police officer and asked him for directions. We ended walking back up to walking street and stopped in a cafe with wifi so we could try and get a bit more of an idea where the resort was. Myself and Charlotte stayed in the cafe and Katy went off to try and find the resort. We both were gasping so we ordered a drink and Charlotte ordered a slice of chocobanana cake which she said was yummy! Katy came back within about 20 minutes after successfully finding the resort. So we got our backpacks on again and headed off. With our back packs it took us about 15 mins to walk to the resort. When we arrived there seemed to be no one around then a man suddenly appeared which I presumed is the owner. I asked if there was any chance we could upgrade to a room with air con as we only had a room with fans, then he explained to us that there had been an earthquake last week which had damaged the bungalow we were meant to be staying in so he upgraded us to a bungalow with air con for free of charge-BONUS!
We got in and laid in a heap for a little while then we went back to the little cafe we had been in earlier for lunch and a wander down walking street. We booked a taxi to take us to the Pai Canyon tomorrow night. After getting hot and sweaty again we headed back for another lay in and to freshen up.
For dinner we headed back down to the walking street, there isn't many restaurants around the resort. Walking street seemed to have come alive in the evening, all the shops were open and there was food stalls along the street. We had seen a cafe earlier called 'Bigs Little Cafe' that did jacket potatoes and I was craving one all day so we went back to there for dinner. On the way down me and Charlotte spotted a stall that did sushi so we got some sushi for 50 baht and shared that for a starter! Then we went and had our jacket potatoes and they were amazing. I had mine with tuna mayonnaise, so nice to eat something other than rice and noodles. I also had a cheese and tomato panini. Katy and Charlotte shared a jacket potato with cheese and they both had burgers. The food was really good and made a nice change! Me and Katy managed to squeeze in ice cream for dessert with home made cones! Super yummy!
