Week 7- Thailand (Koh Tao) Day 2
So today we had a well needed lay in, to help us fully recover from our ill spurt the day before, even though we were still up by 9am. We have fan only rooms and they are really hot so it's hard to sleep! Obviously Bradley did his morning duties and made myself and Gemma a cup of tea (don't worry mum we aren't letting him slack even when he is on holiday)! We then headed down for breakfast me and Brad both had a fry up which was surprisingly good, I never have high expectations for Asia fry ups! Gemma was super happy because she had the cereal her mum had sent out for her (although she still wasn't feeling great).
We decided it was about time we had a chill out day and spent most the time lounging around the pool and jumping in to cool down. The resort is amazing so we are making the most of it. The pool overlooks the beach which was really pretty. Brad is trying to catch up with our tan but he is never going to beat us ;-)
In the afternoon we decided to hire snorkels from the diving centre as the fish were incredible. There were so many colourful fish even in standing depth! We were really proud of Gemma because she has a fear of fish yet she still came with us! It was very entertaining to watch the 3 of us waddle down the beach in our flippers. We swam out about 50 metres to a large rock and snorkelled around there, it was amazing. We were surrounded by schools of fish in all different colours and sizes, some of the fish were huge! We also got circled by a school of yellow tailed barracuda fish which I found quite scary, I don't like the look of their really pointy noses! We spent about an hour and a half swimming around and also watching some lads cliff diving! The snorkelling here was the best I have ever done, no wonder the island is world famous for it. It was also Brad's first time so that was cool.
After an active afternoon we treated ourselves to an ice cream and headed up to our rooms to have an afternoon nap and to have showers ready for our evening. We got a truck into town, this is always an experience in itself. The roads are so steep you feel like you are going to fall out the back, especially after an Chang beer! We met Maffo in Choppers bar with some others he had met while travelling. It was happy hour so he drinks were flowing in large quantities! Katy (my sister) completed the Prague marathon and Brad's team won their league cup so we thought it was only right to celebrate! We then realised we needed to book our boat for Koh Phangan tomorrow as it gets booked up quickly around full moon. Bradley was rather merry by this time and was highly entertaining! He was talking so much rubbish in the booking agency the lady gave Gemma celotape to cover his mouth! I have a feeling she thought we were slightly crazy! So once our tickets were booked we had dinner back at choppers bar and of course more drinks! It was the final day of the premiere league today so there was lots of football on. Maffo wasn't too happy because Liverpool came second and Gemma made sure she reminded him of this lots!
It was hilarious getting a truck back in the pitch black up and over to the other side of the island, Bradley was drunk and being amusing. He then decided it was a great idea to rolly polly back to our bedroom. So myself and Gemma spent most the evening laughing at him! We hope his head is sore tomorrow!
