Week 10- Laos (Vientiane) Day 7
Today Katy was leaving us :( our table was waiting for us when we arrived to breakfast! We all ate together before we said our goodbyes and waved Katy off! Then me and Charlotte went back to bed for a few hours before we had to check out :) we had asked if we could still use the pool for the day which they didn't mind. We was the only ones around again so we was waited on all day. We thought we better had order some food here as they were letting us use the pool so we order some ribs and chicken wings and some drinks to keep us going until later. He set up a little table for us next to our sun beds for the food. About an hour later another man came round and he had bought us complimentary spring rolls! Really rolling out the red carpet for us, can't get used to this!
The winds crept up so we knew what this meant, all the sudden Charlotte felt a few drops of rain so we gathered our stuff and headed for cover then the heavens absolutely opened and it didn't stop either! We needed to get to our hostel so I had asked at reception if they could arrange a tuk for us, he then said that they could take us free of charge in the minivan! 5 minutes later the minivan was ready for us. The lady wasn't sure where the hostel was and the number for the hostel wasn't working so we ended up having a drive around the streets before we came across Sihome Backpackers, which wasn't the one we were staying at. I knew there was 2 hostels with similar names and from the pictures I had seen I knew it wasn't it so we set off driving again. After about 10 minutes we still had no joy so we went back to the other hostel and I asked for directions. It was only a 2 minute walk apparently so I said we could walk as we felt so bad that it had taken almost 45 minutes to find our hostel! She insisted that she would take us as it was 'too far' for us to walk. Bless them. We eventually found our hostel! The man bought our bags into the hostel for us. We checked in and was shown to our beds. We were in the ladies dorm on the top bunks but they were the hardest bunk beds to get into ever and there was a really irritating noise which sounded like a fast ticking clock so we decided to ask if there were any bottom bunk beds we could have. We moved to a mixed dorm in the other part of the hostel where we was in a mixed dorm but ended up having the room to ourselves anyway! Result!
We ditched our stuff then went to go and get some food. The guy at the hostel (David) recommended a good Italian restaurant which was a 2 minute walk away which was ideal as it was still raining. We arrived and sat down and it was very hectic in the restaurant it turned out that there was a Cabaret night on and the chef was getting very stressed making lots of pizza for the event. We ordered Arachini (rice balls) which took a little while to come up which was fine we wasn't in a rush but when they arrived they weren't the best we have ever had and they could have done with a bit more cooking! We ate our meals and was glad to get out of there to be honest! We fancied some chocolates and biscuits to go with tea when we got back. So we walked in the rain to get some, needs must! We got back and watched the ugly truth with a cuppa and our biscuits and chocolate. Bliss :)
