Week 14- Indonesia (Gili T) Day 3
SCUBA DIVE DAY-yippeeeee! Woke up, had breakfast and confirmed our boat for tomorrow. Then we headed to Gili divers for our refresher course. Our instructor for the day was called Pablo he was friendly and quite funny. He made us do a little recap test first to find out how much we remembered whilst we were waiting for the other people in our group to arrive (not sure how well we did as we never got the results). Then he sorted us out with our sexy wetsuits before we went through the equipment recap. Then we hit the pool! We practiced our breathing etc first then we practiced how to get rid of water in our masks, then we practiced taking off our masks putting the, on again and getting rid of the water. I was quite nervous before the dive but doing the recap definitely helped and now I was super excited for the dive. We hen went into the deep in and practiced buoyancy and emergency skills and a few other bits before getting on the boat and going diving :). Charlotte hired a underwater camera too so we could take lots of ouctures and videos :). We got all our equipment ready on the boat. We then had to sit with our bums hanging off the boat ready to go in backwards. That was quite entertaining. We then had to clean our masks (with our spit-nice) to stop them fogging up under water. Then the dive began! We went down to about 5-10 metres at first. At one point I though I had lost Charlotte as she was still quite a way above us as she was having trouble equalising but Pablo soon sorted her out and she was good to go. We saw so many pretty fish including Nemos! We also saw loads of different corals. But our most favourite thing was seeing a green turtle, he was a beauty! He was quite a big boy too although the pictures don't really show it. He wasn't camera shy either as we managed to have a few turtle selfies. The dive was soooo much fun, made us both realise how much we love diving. We managed to go down to about 18 meters and the dive was 50 minutes long. When it came to the end of the dive we headed to the top and waited for the bots yo come and collect us. It got a bit chilly towards the end.
Once we got back we filled in a piece of paper ready to go in our logbooks as proof we have done a refresher course too so we will be good to go in Australia. We then payed and sorted out all our pictures, got them burnt into 2 CDs. By this time it was dinner time, time really does fly when you are having fun. We both really fancied pizza and Pablo recommended a good pizza place to us called Il Pirata. Oh my the pizzas were incredible (best pizza we have had in a while) and they were huge too! After that we went to pay a visit to our cake lady at the Night Market. We both got a few treats for tonight and one for the boat ride tomorrow. Super sad that our last day on Gili T was over :( but no donut we will be back ;).
