Week 4- Cambodia (Sihanoukville) Day 3
Last night we decided to brave the market food! There was a weekend market about a 3 minute walk from our hostel it was mainly full off locals but there was a few westerners in there. We both had noodles, spring roll and shrimp in breadcrumbs all for $2, not bad and it tasted good. The food stalls looked busy, we were both freaked out by the cooked whole chicks head beak and all, that was pretty gross so we didn't eat from there! Yuk!
Today we had the bus from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville, the bus takes around 5-6 hours. It was a small mini bus that played movies on board so wasn't too bad and we left Phenom Penh at 9:30am and arrived in Sunny Ssihanoukville at 1:30pm. Once we arrived we got a tuk tuk to our hotel Zana Beach which was nice, we had our own room for 3 days so Char's rucksack exploded and all her stuff was all over the room ( she likes to do this when we have our own space it makes me laugh every time!). We checked out serendipity beach which looked ok although we had heard other beaches were better. We then went to sort out our Vietnam visa and bus ticket. We decided to do a boat trip to Koh Rong instead of staying there for 2 nights to give ourselves some more time in Ho Chi Minh City.
Once the boring stuff was sorted we headed back to get ready for dinner. Having a look at some restaurants on the way down to the beach we discovered that Sihanoukville is cheaper than Phnom Penh. We decided to eat at a beach bar that had a BBQ going too. They had fresh seafood in a glass cabinet outside which looked good, we both had BBQ mixed seafood for dinner (squid, king prawn and fish) it was yummy and only cost $5! We both had a beer or 2 also at the beach and char had a mojito, I was worried I would have to carry her home ha! All in all a lovely dinner at the beach watching the sunset, bliss!
